How to Measure for Drapery
Step 1: Choose a Panel Type

Single Panel (Left, Right, or Center)
- Designed to cover an entire span or serve as a decorative stationary panel.
- Overlaps and returns are automatically added to the ordering width.
Pair (Two Equal Panels)

- The total width you specify will be divided evenly into two functional panels.
- Overlaps and returns are included in the ordering width.
- For unequal pairs, order each panel separately as single panels.
Step 2: Determine Total Drapery Width
- Measure the width of the area you want to cover—this is your ordering width (fullness is already factored in).
- For functional drapes (ones that open and close), the total width should match your hardware span.
- Pro Tip: Extend your drapery 6"–12" beyond the window or door edges to create a more expansive appearance while preserving natural light when the panels are open.
For stationary drapery panels, consider a narrower coverage to achieve a polished look.
Step 3: Select Finished Drapery Length
- Measure from the top of your hardware mount to the floor (for wall-mounted drapery) or from the ceiling to the floor (for ceiling-mounted drapery).
- Adjust for your preferred style:
- Add extra length for a break (¼"–¾") or puddle (1"–4"), ideal for uneven floors or natural fabrics like linen or wool.
- Opt for a ½" clearance if your drapes will be opened and closed frequently.
Important Considerations:
- Natural fiber fabrics may experience slight variations over time due to humidity and temperature changes—this is normal. If this is a concern, consider ordering a length with a slight puddle.
- Synthetic fabrics offer more stability with minimal stretching.
